# A Shot For Life

> A Shot For Life uses sports to fund cutting-edge glioblastoma immunotherapy research at Massachusetts General Hospital, uniting athletes and communities across the northeast United States to fight cancer.

## Organization

A Shot For Life (ASFL) is a 501(c)(3) sports-based cancer research nonprofit founded in 2011 by Mike Slonina, after his mother's brain tumor diagnosis, when he shot a basketball for 24 consecutive hours to raise funds. ASFL now runs eight sport departments across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, funding glioblastoma immunotherapy clinical trials at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.
